TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, YOUR HOBBIES, GOALS AND LIFE ASPIRATIONS...
I have been married to my wife Susie for over 17 years and we have 3 beautiful girls, Brianna, Lillian and Adalynn. We are a very active family with the girls playing numerous sports and clubs. In addition we love to travel and experience new things with our current goal of visiting 8 National Parks in 2020. We are also avid Iowa State fans! Professionally I am on the team at Russell responsible for our construction operations. Both personally and professionally I am focused on growing myself and helping people grow to be the best version of themselves.
WHY DID YOU START CROSSFITTING OR FITNESSING?
I was doing a fair number of triathlons and wasn’t loving training. A good friend in the military mentioned CrossFit to me and so I started looking into it. I started by doing some workouts at the gym I was going to at the time. Eventually in Sept of 2012 I tried it with my wife Susie and I was hooked and have been doing it ever since.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT WORKING OUT AND WHY DO YOU CONTINUE?
I appreciate the connection to like minded people. I love to challenge myself in every aspect of my life and this is the best way to do it physically. I think the big reason I continue is because I want to be around and engaged with my family for many years to come and that starts with a healthy body and mind.
HOW HAS YOUR FITNESS OR YOUR ACTIVE LIVE IMPACTED YOUR LIFE BEYOND INSIDE OF THE GYM?
I think we put mental blocks up when something is difficult. Completing workouts in the gym or lifting more than you thought was possible make you realize you are creating those road blocks. I think my fitness life helps me appreciate how hard work and the right mindset can help you overcome every challenge.
